Angelmass

by Timothy Zahn, 531 pgs, paperback
Overall Grade: B+

Definitely a good scifi romp by Zahn. The plot, well, there's a lot going on in this book, but the jist is that some human colonies have been harvesting exotic particles from around a black hole. These particles, called 'Angels', are found to affect humans, making them more truthful, altruistic, and better moral people. Of course, anything like that is bound to have some side-effects, right? That's what the Pax Empire thinks, and they are hell-bent on getting these colonies back under their control. Toss in an academic-turned-spy and a young thief/con artist with a edetic memory as the protagonists, and you have this book.
