This book is terrific! A follow up to Clarke's first novel 'Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell' -this anthology is much much shorter & consists of 8 short stories roughly set in the same magical historical England as the novel. The first story 'The Ladies of Grace Adieu' is absolutely, astonishingly good - eerie writing to be sure, and a final plot twist that I did not see coming. All of them are excellent. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that liked Clarke's novel, to anyone that might be considering reading the novel but are daunted by the size (this will sell you on the engrossing writing style) or basically to anyone I could get to read it.
