Man of the Year

PG-13 1hr 55min
Official Website, IMDB
Overall Grade: A
There are probably a few ways that this movie could be better, but not many. Oh how refreshing this view of politics in our two-party system!

The Prestige

PG-13, 2hr 8min
Official Website, IMDB
Overall Grade: B-
This one definately gets you thinking by the end. Although I thought things would be a bit trickier and mysterious than part of the eventual resolve. Oh well. It's about stage magic and science magic and to what limits a pair of magicians drive each other trying for the most lauded performance.
Recommended to: those with a DVD player, curiousity, and a constitution against disturbing stuff

Ratatouille

G, 1hr 51min
Official Website, IMDB
Overall Grade: A-
Yea for an overall excellent film! I like the characters, I like the evolution of the plot, I like how a crazy explanation does not meet with spontaneous acceptance by rational characters. Hurrah! And in case you were wondering - there is additionally meaning to title beyond the dish sharing the same first syllable as 'rat'

Shrek the Third

PG, 1hr 33min
Official Website, IMDB
Overall Grade: C+
This movie also felt tired. More Shrek-stuff. Artie looks really familiar to someone I just can't place (and it has nothing to do with Justin Timberlake being his voice), though I do like Eric Idle as Merlin, pretty funny. Anyway -just go watch the trailer, that's a good summary.
Recommended to: people who can't wait for the DVD

Spiderman 3

PG-13, 2hr 20min
Official Website, IMDB
Overall Grade: C+
Series: Spiderman
This movie felt tired after the last two (my personal fav is #2). Like 'what do we do now?' Meh
Recommended to: those who can't substitute water cooler chitchat for actually seeing the movie

Nancy Drew

PG, 1hr 38 mins
Overall Grade: B
Official Website, IMDB
For having read just about every Nancy Drew book in existance during my preteen years, this wasn't as disappointing as it could have been. It was sad to see Nancy's faithful pals Bess & George shoved to the side (left in Riverheights) for the trendy set in Hollywood. But Nancy was pretty true to character, and Ned sweet.
Recommended to: Nancy Drew fans who aren't already baulking at the idea of a movie, and anyone that needs a good clean movie to take the younger sibs/cousins to
