Erstwhile air pirate Andan Cly is trying to set up a more stable life in blight-stricken Seattle (see Boneshaker). While on a supply run to New Orleans he and his airship crew agree to help pilot an experimental ship from Lake Pontchartrain down the Mississippi, past watchful Confederate and Texan troops, to the Gulf where it will be handed over the the Union forces. But this experimental ship, the Ganymede, isn't an airship - it's a submarine!
